Hyderabad, April 13: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former chief minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao has lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for dividing people in the name of religion.
Launching the party campaign for next month’s Lok Sabha elections, he alleged that the BJP is trying to garner votes by spreading communal hatred.
KCR appealed to people to reject both the BJP and the Congress, saying they have done nothing for the people.
Addressing a public meeting in Chevella constituency, he appealed to people to vote for BRS candidates in May 13 elections, saying they also can safeguard people’s interests as the party was born for Telangana.
The BRS chief said people should make a conscious decision while voting. He lamented that during Assembly elections people fell prey to the false promises of the Congress party and as a result they are facing problems to get water for drinking and irrigation.
KCR, whose daughter K. Kavitha was last month arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi excise policy case, also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for misusing central agencies to target the opposition parties.
He remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s only work is to threaten parties through Central agencies. “It is either Modi or ED. They are asking opposition leaders to join BJP or be ready to go to jail,” said KCR.
Meanwhile, KCR’s son and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has alleged that BJP uses Ram only to get votes. “BJP has no love and respect for Bhagwan Ram. It uses him for political gains,” he said.
Recently, KCR’s remarks about some religious slogan had created a controversy. He had remarked that raising the slogan will not fill people’s stomach or give them jobs.
BJP leaders had condemned his remarks. The BRS leader clarified that BRS has no dispute with ‘Bhagwan Ram’. He also made it clear that ‘Bhagwan Ram’ is not the property of BJP.
