Revised Umrah Visa Policy: Streamlining Preparations for Hajj Season

16 Apr. 24

Saudi Arabia has introduced a new rule regarding Umrah visas, extending their validity period to three months from the date of issuance. This is a departure from the previous practice where the visa’s validity was calculated from the pilgrim’s entry into Saudi Arabia. The change comes as part of a coordinated effort with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to streamline preparations for the annual Hajj season.

The adjustment in visa policy was prompted by inquiries received on a specific platform (“X”), highlighting the need for better management of pilgrim activities leading up to and during the Hajj season. The Ministry emphasized that the purpose of this change is to enhance the overall handling of pilgrim influx and related activities during this significant religious period.

Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized the importance of strict adherence to visa regulations, especially in light of recent cases where visas were misused. Pilgrims are strongly advised to depart from Saudi Arabia before their visas expire and to comply with all conditions associated with their stay.

In summary, the extension of the Umrah visa validity period aims to optimize preparations for the Hajj season and ensure smoother management of pilgrim activities, with a strong emphasis on compliance with visa regulations and respectful conduct during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
