Last evening, the India International Centre in New Delhi was the vibrant setting for a special Eid get-together organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH). The event brought together a diverse array of attendees, including foreign diplomats, interfaith leaders, community figures, activists, politicians, journalists, and scholars.

Addressing the gathering, JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini extended warm greetings to dignitaries and guests on the occasion of Eid. He emphasized the importance of social responsibility during the festivities, urging everyone to remember and support the underprivileged for a more just society.

Mr. Husaini highlighted the collective effort needed to establish peace, justice, equality, and brotherhood in India. He expressed concern about global persecution, particularly citing the plight of Palestinians, and called for solidarity against oppression worldwide.

Explaining the significance of Eid al-Fitr, he noted its connection to Ramadan, a month of spiritual growth and Quranic reflection for Muslims.

The Eid gathering attracted a notable lineup of foreign diplomats, including Iranian Ambassador Dr. Iraj Ilahi and Palestinian Ambassador Adnan Alhaija, alongside representatives from Türkiye, Pakistan, USA, Russia, France, Germany, Algeria, Indonesia, Libya, Malaysia, and Brunei.

Several prominent Indian figures graced the occasion, such as religious leaders, human rights activists, and political representatives.

Among the attendees were retired Justice Abhay Thipsay, Supreme Court advocates, former Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi, and former ambassadors. The event also drew veteran journalists from leading publications.

In attendance from JIH were Vice Presidents Prof. Mohammed Salim Engineer and Maulana Waliullah Saeedi Falahi, Secretary General T. Arif Ali, and other key members.

The gathering underscored the spirit of Eid as a time for unity and compassion, resonating with calls for social justice and global solidarity against oppression.
