Asaduddin Owaisi’s assets up by Rs.10 crore in 5 years

Hyderabad, April 20: The assets of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has gone up by more than Rs.10 crore during the last five years.

While filing his nomination for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, Owaisi declared family assets worth over Rs.23.87 crore. The same was Rs. 13 crore in 2019.

Owaisi’s movable assets are Rs.2.96 crore and immovable assets are to the tune of Rs.20.91 crore. The same were Rs. 1.67 crore and Rs. 12 crore respectively five years ago.

Owaisi’s wife owns movable assets worth Rs. 15.71 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs. 4.90 crore.

The AIMIM chief, who is seeking re-election for a fifth consecutive term, claimed that he does not own a car.

He also revealed that his and his wife’s liabilities stand at Rs. 7.05 crore. His income during 2022-23 was Rs.22.03 lakh, down from Rs.24.96 lakh the previous year.

The MP has an NP Bore .22 pistol and an NP Bore 30-60 rifle worth Rs. 1 lakh each.

The 54-year-old leader owns residential buildings, including a house which he jointly owns with his wife at Shastripuram. The approximate market value of the house is Rs.19.65 crore.

He owns another house worth Rs. 95 lakh in Misrigunj, which he acquired by way of gift.

The declaration also mentions that there are five criminal cases pending against him. He declared that he has not been convicted for any criminal offence.

The AIMIM leader filed nomination papers at Hyderabad district collector’s office on Friday. He was accompanied by his son Mohammed Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi and senior leader and former MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri.

After offering Friday prayers at the historic Makkah Masjid, Owaisi along with hundreds of his supporters left for filing nomination.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s younger brother and party’s floor leader in Telangana Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi, party MLAs and other leaders were also present.

The AIMIM has been winning the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat since 1984. Asaduddin and Akbaruddin’s father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi was first elected in 1984 as an independent candidate. He retained the seat in 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998 and 1999. Due to ill health, he made way for his eldest son Asaduddin Owaisi in 2004.

Asaduddin Owaisi was earlier elected to Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Charminar constituency in 1994 and 1999.
