Karnataka CM Orders Special Probe into Hassan Sex Scandal, Prajwal Revanna Suspected to Have Fled

29 Apr. 24: In response to a burgeoning sex scandal involving Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken decisive action, announcing the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) on Saturday. Concerns have been raised as reports from the Chief Minister’s office suggest that Prajwal may have left the country.

“The government has decided to form an SIT in connection with the case of Prajwal Revanna’s explicit videos,” Siddaramaiah stated in a press release.

Explicit video clips purportedly depicting sexual assault have been circulating in Hassan, prompting Siddaramaiah to assert, “It appears prima facie that women were sexually assaulted (forced).” The decision to establish an SIT follows a petition submitted by the Karnataka State Commission for Women.

On April 25, Commission Chairperson Dr. Nagalakshmi Chaudhary urged Siddaramaiah and state police chief Alok Mohan to initiate a special probe into the viral sex videos originating from Hassan. Ahead of the polling in Hassan, Prajwal, through his election agent, lodged a complaint alleging that doctored videos were being circulated to tarnish his image.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has also weighed in on the matter, urging JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy to address the allegations surrounding the Hassan episode.
