Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Alleges ‘Mafia Raj’ in Assam, Targets BJP on Multiple Fronts

2 May 2024: During an election rally in Dhubri, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra leveled accusations of a “mafia raj” prevailing in Assam, targeting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his alleged involvement in various scandals.

Vadra asserted that Sarma maintained a “secret understanding” with Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), akin to the BJP’s alliance with Assaduddin Owaisi in Telangana, both aimed at thwarting Congress’s prospects.

She also criticized the BJP over sexual abuse allegations against Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s endorsement of Revanna during elections, followed by his failure to prevent the MP from leaving the country.

Additionally, Vadra took aim at the BJP concerning the electoral bonds issue, highlighting the exponential financial growth of the party within a decade compared to Congress’s progress over 70 years.

Accusing PM Modi of being disconnected from the common people’s reality and displaying egotism, Vadra emphasized rising unemployment as a pressing concern in Assam, alleging that the CM and his ministers prioritized their self-interest over addressing public grievances.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s remarks reflect heightened political tensions in Assam ahead of the elections, underscoring the Congress’s strategy to challenge the ruling BJP on various fronts.
