Abu Asim Azmi Seeks Fair Probe, Warns Against Targeting Muslims After Delhi Blast

New Delhi: Maharashtra legislator Abu Asim Azmi has expressed sharp concern over the blast near Red Fort and urged authorities to ensure a fair investigation. He said the attack exposed serious security and intelligence failures in the national capital. He asked officials to review lapses and restore public trust.

Azmi spoke to reporters in Mumbai. He conveyed sympathy to the families of the victims. He warned against the wrongful targeting of innocent Muslims during the investigation. He referred to earlier cases where people were arrested without evidence after terror incidents. He said past errors must guide present decisions. He pointed to the Mumbai serial blasts case where several individuals spent years in jail before the high court cleared them.

He criticised investigative agencies for rushing to arrest suspects from the Muslim community. He said such actions harm innocent families and weaken respect for due process. He urged officials to rely on facts and forensic evidence. He said the focus should be on identifying the actual perpetrators rather than making quick arrests to show progress.

Azmi demanded strong action against the attackers. He said those proven guilty should receive the harshest punishment within a fixed timeline. He stressed the need for transparency at every stage of the inquiry. He said a neutral process would help prevent bias and reduce fear among minority communities.

He asked the government to improve coordination between intelligence and security agencies. He said Delhi requires effective surveillance and timely information sharing. He said this approach protects all citizens and strengthens the rule of law.

Azmi’s remarks reflect growing anxiety among Muslims about profiling after violent incidents. His call for fairness highlights the need for accountability and a rights-based approach to policing.
