Sep. 28, 2023: Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister met with Russia’s Grand Mufti in Moscow, an official said on Thursday, reports Anadolu Agency.
Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, who arrived in Moscow on Monday leading a delegation, met with Grand Mufti of the Russian Federation and Imam of the Central Mosque of Moscow Ravil Ainuddin, deputy spokesperson of Foreign Ministry Hafiz Zia Ahmad wrote on X.
Muttaqi also visited the Central Mosque and was briefed on Muslims and religious centers in Russia.
He also hoped the Grand Mufti would play his role in strengthening relations between Afghanistan and Russia.
Muttaqi arrived in Moscow before moving on to Kazan, the capital of the Tatarstan Republic of the Russian Federation, where he is expected to attend a Moscow-format meeting.
