Supreme Court Advocate Attempts Shoe Attack on CJI BR Gavai During Hearing

New Delhi: A dramatic scene unfolded in the Supreme Court when advocate Rakesh Kishore attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai during court proceedings. The incident caused brief chaos before security personnel intervened and escorted him out of the courtroom.

According to reports, Kishore was agitated over the repeated dismissal of petitions he had filed and alleged that his cases were not being heard fairly. His act appeared to be a protest against what he perceived as judicial bias and lack of access to justice.

The Supreme Court Bar Association condemned the incident, describing it as an act of gross misconduct that disrespected the dignity of the institution. Disciplinary action against Kishore is expected, which could include suspension or cancellation of his right to practice.

Court insiders stated that such acts undermine the decorum of judicial proceedings and set a dangerous precedent for dissent within the legal fraternity. They emphasized that grievances must be addressed through proper legal and administrative channels.

Chief Justice Gavai, who hails from a Dalit background, has previously faced caste-based trolling and online abuse. While there is no direct indication that the attack was caste-motivated, the incident has sparked discussion among legal observers about the growing hostility and lack of decorum within court spaces.
