Hyderabad: Leaders of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) have condemned the derogatory comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. The party organised a public meeting at Chintal Basti here to condemn the remarks made by Shah in the Parliament recently.
AIMIM MLAs said the Union Home Minister’s remarks reflect the ideology and thinking of BJP and its frontal political and non-political organisations and individuals belonging to upper castes.
The AIMIM leaders said these organisations and individuals talk of Hindu Rashtra in which there is no place for Dalits and Muslims. They underlined the need for Dalits and Muslims to come together on a political platform with the slogan of ‘Jai Bhim, Jai Meem’ so that the Constitution given by Babasaheb and democracy can be protected.
Addressing the public meeting, AIMIM MLA from Nampally constituency Mohammed Majid Hussain stated that their party and its leaders always respect Dr Ambedkar. He mentioned that AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has been raising his voice to uphold and protect the Constitution. Owaisi also highlights the role played by Dr Ambedkar in framing the Constitution.
Majid Hussain said Dalit brethren should understand that upper castes want to take them back into the dark period when they were subjected to repression and injustice.
“In the name of untouchability, the life of our Dalit brothers was made miserable. They were not even allowed to drink water from wells and rivers,” he said.
The MLA said BJP and RSS were creating a fear about Muslims. He alleged that they were not only making conspiracies against Muslims but also implementing the secret agenda about Dalits. He pointed out that Asaduddin Owaisi made a statement in favour of Ambedkar in Parliament while Akbaruddin Owaisi spoke in support of Ambedkar in Telangana Assembly. This proves that AIMIM is the real spokesperson of Dalits. He said AIMIM would organise more public meetings for protection of Constitution and in favour of Ambedkar.
Charminar MLA Mir Zulfekhar Ali urged Dalits not to support the organisations which have been committing excesses on them for decades. He said BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Vahini are not only anti-Muslims but also anti-Dalits.
Stating that AIMIM always raised its voice for the oppressed Dalits, he recalled that Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi had appointed three Dalits as the mayor of Hyderabad.
AIMIM MLA Kausar Mohiuddin, MLC Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi and leaders of some Dalit organisations addressed the public meeting.
