Jaipur: Lukman Khan, state vice-president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), submitted a memorandum to Jaipur police on behalf of state president Jamil Khan, urging immediate action to tackle the alarming rise in drug abuse and related issues in the city. The memorandum called for strict measures to curb drug trafficking, raise awareness among the youth, and effectively dismantle the illegal drug trade.
Addressing the issue, Lukman Khan stressed the importance of building a drug-free society, emphasising that this requires a collective effort. He called for transforming the fight against drug abuse into a grassroots movement. The event was attended by AIMIM state secretary Mukarram Ali and other prominent figures.
The memorandum, submitted to Superintendent of Police and Station House Officer of Bhatta Basti Shastri Nagar Police Station, highlighted the severity of the problem. “Drug trafficking in our area has reached its peak. Over the past year, 20 to 22 lives have been lost due to drug-related incidents. Without immediate intervention, this number will continue to rise,” wrote Khan.
He further emphasized, “This growing menace poses a significant threat to society and is destroying the future of our youth. Despite multiple efforts to curb these activities, the problem persists. Urgent and decisive action is required to put an end to the illegal drug trade.”
The AIMIM also expressed grave concern over the escalating drug problem in Jaipur, urging the police to take swift and effective steps. The party underscored the need for public awareness campaigns to educate young people about the dangers of drug abuse and called for a unified community effort to build a drug-free society.
