Malegaon: AIMIM MLA Mufti Ismail Qasmi has strongly condemned the recent Nagpur violence, calling it a deliberate attempt to incite communal discord using Aurangzeb’s name as a pretext. Addressing the media from his Darul Khair office, he appealed for peace and restraint amid rising tensions.
Mufti Qasmi highlighted reports that an effigy of Aurangzeb was set on fire after Maghrib prayers, which later escalated into riots between Hindus and Muslims post-Taraweeh. He also noted demands for the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb in Khuldabad, warning that such actions are designed to provoke unrest.
Emphasizing that Aurangzeb is a historical figure, he stated, “His rule ended centuries ago. Whether good or bad, his governance has no impact on today’s society. Yet, his name is repeatedly used to stoke communal tensions.”
Urging Muslims to remain vigilant, Mufti Qasmi warned against reacting impulsively, stating that such incidents are orchestrated to destabilize the nation. He appealed to the community to uphold peace and harmony, advising, “Do not fall into their trap. Respond with wisdom, not violence.”
