In a resolute stance against recent legislative developments, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has declared its unwavering commitment to uphold Islamic principles, including Shariat law, the hijab, and the sanctity of Waqf properties. This declaration comes in response to the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which AIMIM leaders argue undermines the rights and autonomy of the Muslim community., reported the Times of India.
AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has been at the forefront of this opposition, labeling the bill as a direct assault on Muslim identity and religious freedoms. He contends that the proposed amendments not only threaten the management of Waqf properties but also infringe upon constitutional rights guaranteed under Articles 14, 15, 25, and 26.
The party has called for nationwide protests and has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the constitutional validity of the bill. AIMIM leaders emphasize that their resistance is not merely political but a defense of religious and cultural heritage that has been integral to the Muslim community for centuries.
As the debate over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill continues, AIMIM’s steadfast position highlights the broader concerns of minority rights and religious freedom in India’s diverse socio-political landscape.
