AIMIM urges authorities to allow tailoring shops open till late night during festivals

Tonk, March 29: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) state general secretary Advocate Kashif Zubairi has submitted a memorandum to the Tonk district collector, demanding permission for tailoring shops to remain open late at night during the festive season.

The memorandum states that for the past few months, shops have not been allowed to open beyond 8 pm in the name of maintaining law and order during festivals. This is causing financial hardship to night workers, especially tailors.

On Wednesday, a delegation of AIMIM Rajasthan led by Advocate Kashif Zubairi submitted a memorandum to the district collector’s office, demanding permission for tailors and cloth cutters to open their shops at night during the festive season of Eid and Ramadan. The administration has been asked to find an alternative way.

The memorandum states that many poor and middle-class people work overtime during the festive season to earn more and celebrate the festival in their own way. It also drew the attention of authorities to the poverty and other parameters prevalent in the city.

Many poor people earn a living by doing tailoring and cutting work at tailoring shops and make arrangements to celebrate the festival with happiness and joy during the last 15 to 20 days of the festive season.

However, the poor laborers who work in tailoring shops throughout the night are being harassed in the name of maintaining law and order and their work is being disrupted. Police vehicles are reaching the shops and putting pressure to close the shops, which is not at all justified.

“It is better to strike a balance between maintaining law and order and the festive joys of common people so that the poor and laborers working on tailoring and cutting work at the tailors’ shops can do their work at night without any hindrance,” the memorandum read.
