AIMIM’s ex-MLA Virasat Rasool Khan passes away

Hyderabad, May 28: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and former MLA Virasat Rasool Khan passed away on Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife and a son.

Virasat Rasool Khan was associated with the AIMIM party for close to four decades.

The Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Masjid Alamgir, Shantinagar after Maghrib and was buried at the adjacent graveyard.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi condoled the death of the former MLA. “Saddened to hear about the passing away of Virasat Rasool Khan sahab. He was AIMIM’s MLA for two terms from Charminar & Nampally and a municipal corporator before that. He was lovingly called Munnu Nawab. My prayers are with his family & friends. May Allah SWT grant him maghfira,” Asaduddin Owaisi posted on ‘X’

Virasat Rasool Khan was first elected as MLA from Charminar constituency in 1989 and again elected as an MLA from Nampally Assembly constituency in 2009.

In 2014, the party denied him the ticket. He was not keeping good health for the last few years.

Virasat Rasool Khan was the brother of Vizarat Rasool Khan, who was also associated with AIMIM and served as a two-time MLA. Vizarat Rasool Khan, founder of Shadan Group of institutions, passed away in 2013.
