New Delhi, Sep 2: The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) has enhanced its organizational presence by establishing a new Delhi state unit. The launch event took place at Milli Model School here Saturday. It was attended by prominent community leaders, scholars, and activists, reported the Munsif.
The establishment of the Delhi unit marks a significant step in expanding AIMMM’s influence in India’s capital. Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, former chairman of Delhi Minorities Commission and National President of AIMMM, delivered the keynote address. He expressed optimism about the unit’s potential to effectively mobilize support and advance the community’s interests. Dr. Khan emphasized the importance of collaboration with other organizations to achieve common goals and highlighted AIMMM’s commitment to inclusivity, rejecting discrimination based on gender, caste, class, or sect.
Dr. Khan also addressed current challenges facing the Muslim community, including what he termed “bulldozer injustice,” mob lynching, and the targeting of Waqf properties. He criticized the recent Waqf Amendment Bill, which he believes increases bureaucratic interference with Waqf properties, potentially undermining their management and justice.
Dr. Noorullah, the newly appointed convener of the Delhi unit, underscored the need for unity and increased representation among Muslims in Delhi. He pledged to recruit influential members from various organizations to bolster the unit’s impact.
Maulana Abrar Ahmad Makki outlined the unit’s objectives, including addressing socio-economic issues, promoting education, and ensuring that the community’s voice is heard in policy discussions.
The event, which also saw participation from several notable figures, concluded with a call for greater community involvement. The newly established Delhi state unit is expected to play a crucial role in advancing AIMMM’s goals and advocating for the rights and welfare of Muslims in Delhi.
