Mumbai: In a bid to address growing misinformation about Muslim Personal Law, particularly targeting Muslim women, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Women’s Wing has launched ‘Tafheem-e-Shariat’ Campaign. As part of this initiative, awareness sessions were conducted in Mumbra, Mumbai, and Bhiwandi, with AIMPLB leaders highlighting the importance of preserving Shariah in the face of alleged state interference.
Speaking at the Mumbai event, Maulana Fazlurrahim Mujaddidi, General Secretary of AIMPLB, condemned the implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, calling it “an attack on Shariah and a violation of constitutional rights.” He elaborated on the three core objectives of the Board – Protection, Understanding, and Implementation of Shariah – emphasising that “it’s the collective duty of Muslims to practise and safeguard their religious laws.”
Warning against misleading narratives, Mufti Saeedur Rahman urged Muslim women to be wary of “anti-Islamic propaganda” and to strengthen their commitment to Shariah. Echoing this sentiment, Mufti Ashfaq Qazi of Darul Ifta, Mumbai Jama Masjid, stressed that “Islam remains unparalleled in ensuring women’s rights and dignity.”
Jaleesa Sultana, head of the Women’s Wing, reaffirmed opposition to UCC and Waqf Bill, criticising authorities for disregarding Muslim concerns. She urged women to “stand firm in upholding Shariah and await the Board’s further guidance on protecting Islamic laws.”
