AIMPLB Launches Second Phase of ‘Save Waqf Campaign’

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced the intensification of its nationwide ‘Save Waqf Campaign’, beginning September 19. The campaign seeks to oppose the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, which the community leadership argues threatens the autonomy and protection of Waqf properties.

As part of the campaign, special sermons will be delivered before Friday prayers across the country. These sermons will highlight the significance of Waqf and the concerns raised by the amendment. Following the prayers, supplications will be offered for the preservation of Waqf properties.

On October 3, AIMPLB has appealed to Muslim community members to voluntarily close their businesses, offices, and establishments from 8 am to 2 pm, except medical stores. A peaceful protest will be held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 11, followed by voluntary arrests.

The campaign also includes publication of a multilingual booklet titled “We Do Not Accept the Waqf Amendment Act.” Press conferences will be organized in major cities, and round-table discussions with civil society members will be held. Interfaith meetings will also take place to underline the importance of protecting religious endowments across all communities.

A major protest is scheduled at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 16, followed by a ‘waqf march’ to Rashtrapati Bhavan. State-level marches will end at Governor Houses with memorandums.

From November 1 to 8, a document verification drive will be launched nationwide. Special waqf desks will be set up where caretakers will present property papers for review. Volunteers, including legal experts, will assist those without proper documents.
