New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) postponed its scheduled press conference at the Press Club of India following the tragic blast near the Red Fort on Sunday evening. The decision was announced by AIMPLB spokesperson Dr. S. Q. R. Ilyas, who cited the “unfortunate and distressing incident” as the reason for the postponement.
In a brief statement addressed to media houses, Dr. Ilyas expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the sudden change, saying the Board’s leadership found it inappropriate to hold the event amid the prevailing grief and shock. The press conference was expected to address key social and community issues, but the Board emphasized that public sensitivity and respect for the victims must take precedence at such a time.
The Red Fort blast, which occurred in a crowded area near the historic monument, left several people dead and others injured. The tragedy has drawn widespread condemnation across the country.
AIMPLB, which represents a wide spectrum of Muslim organizations and scholars in India, has been active in issuing public statements on issues affecting the community and national harmony. The Board is expected to announce a new date for the press conference once the situation stabilizes.
