AIMPLB urges Government of India to continue support to Palestinians

Hyderabad, Jan. 20: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has appealed to the Government of India to continue the country’s traditional stand of backing Palestinians in their fight for their homeland.

The executive of the Board, which held a meeting in Hyderabad, passed a resolution on the issue of Palestine. It observed that the issue of Palestine is a human issue wherein an occupier force is bent upon making original residents of a country homeless. Israel has broken all records of oppression and it has been continuously committing genocide and barbaric oppression, reads the resolution.

The war did not begin on October 7, 2023 but in June 1967 when Israel occupied the entire Palestine, West Bank, Gaza and holy mosque Masjid-e-Aqsa. The United Nations and the Security Council repeatedly asked Israel to vacate the occupied territories but at the instance of imperialist powers like the United States and Britain, it has not implemented those resolutions.

This meeting strongly condemns Israel and the world powers backing it and it also strongly condemns the Muslim countries that are not lending a helping hand to Palestinians and demonstrating their cowardice to remain silent on oppression, said the resolution.

The meeting noted that from Gandhiji to Atal Behari Vajpayee and even under the subsequent governments, India has always supported the Palestinian cause. The Government of India should stick to its traditional stand because Palestinians are fighting for independence of their country and not to occupy another country. They are struggling to save themselves from oppression and not to commit atrocities on others. This meeting views with great value and respect the strong determination, resolve, bravery, valour, restraint and patience of Gaza’s men, women, children, elderly and the youth.

The meeting appreciates the way thousands of people in most of the countries including our own country came out on streets to show solidarity with Palestinians, especially the oppressed people of Gaza.

The executive appealed to the Islamic world to show courage in these difficult times and help oppressed Palestinian brothers in every possible way because they are fighting for truth and backing truth is a responsibility both as human beings and as Muslims.

In another resolution, the Board felt that the Government is not taking effective measures to protect the rights of women and their respect and dignity. Every day women’s dignity and honour are being violated and it is unfortunate that prominent people belonging to the ruling party have been found involved in these violations.

The meeting felt that women have to face prolonged court proceedings to get their due and legal rights and this is not only time consuming but also requires a huge amount of money. It demanded that the Government take immediate effective steps to control these crimes. Merely providing 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies is not the solution to the problem, it added.
