New Delhi, August 5, 2024: The All India Unani Tibbi Congress (Delhi State), under its initiative ‘Unani Upchar – Janata ke Dwar, Mission 2025’, organized its 88th Free Unani Medical Camp in collaboration with Nasir Foundation Secunderabad with Hakim Abdul Rahman Nadvi as its Convenor. The camp, held in Secunderabad, Uttar Pradesh, saw a significant turnout, benefiting nearly 500 individuals who received free medicines.
Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, General Secretary of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), highlighted the growing popularity of Unani medicine. He noted that the increasing public turnout at government Unani hospitals and medical camps is a testament to this trend. Dr. Khan emphasized that the number of Unani pharmaceutical companies has risen from a mere 10 about 30 years ago to over 100 today, all of which are profitable. Similarly, the number of Unani medical colleges has grown from 25 to 65.
Government employment opportunities for Unani practitioners have also expanded, with thousands currently employed through this traditional system of medicine. Dr. Khan expressed sympathy for those who fail to recognize the significance of Unani medicine, pointing out that its growth also promotes the Urdu language and provides employment. Unani medical colleges now require students to study Urdu, Arabic, and Logic and Philosophy at the introductory level.
Dr. Khan acknowledged the vital support from local officials and pharmaceutical companies, such as Rex Remedies, Sadar Laboratories, Dehlvi Naturals, Sana Herbal, Sky Herbal, Limra Remedies, Baqai Dawakhana, Zakai Dawakhana, Dawakhana Shifa-ul-Hasani, Rana Herbals, Supzar, Awliya Herbals, Shafi Dawakhana, Eba India, and Greek Herbal (Kasganj), which contributed to the camp’s success.
Key contributors to the camp’s success included Maulana Faizan, Mufti Rizwan, Mufti Rashid, Asif, Owais, Nazeer Ahmed, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Dr. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, Dr. Mohammad Arif Saifi, Hakim Mohammad Murtaza Dehlvi, and Hakim Aftab Alam.
