New Delhi: A meeting of the Delhi Chapter of All India Unani Tibbi Congress was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, during which participants discussed issues related to the advancement of Unani medicine and the welfare of Unani practitioners.
The meeting acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of the national leadership of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), including Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Prof. S.M. Arif Zaidi, Dr. Shahid Shah Chaudhry, Israr Ahmad Ujjaini, and Advocate Shahjabeen Qazi, as well as office-bearers of the AIUTC Delhi Chapter, for their efforts in promoting and strengthening the Unani system of medicine.
Participants held detailed discussions on measures to support the growth and development of Unani doctors and practitioners. They also commended the government’s initiatives for the promotion of traditional systems of medicine and healthcare.
A key resolution adopted during the meeting was the demand to upgrade the historic Ayurveda and Unani Tibbiya College, established by renowned freedom fighter and physician Masih-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan, into a full-fledged university. Speakers emphasised the institution’s historic significance and its longstanding contribution to the advancement of Unani and Ayurvedic education in India, arguing that university status would further strengthen research, academic excellence, and professional training in traditional medicine.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mirza Asif Baig, Senior Vice President of the AIUTC Delhi Chapter.
