AIUTC-Delhi General Body Meeting Held in Delhi

New Delhi: The General Body Meeting of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), Delhi State, was held at the Tasmiya Auditorium in Jamia Nagar here, under the chairmanship of Professor Mohammad Aslam. The meeting was attended by officials from various wings of the organization, including the Youth Wing, Technical Wing, Academic Wing, and Pharmacy Wing, who presented their performance reports and future plans.

Professor Mohammad Aslam, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the importance of adhering to the constitution of the organization and maintaining discipline. He urged all members and office bearers to work in accordance with the organizational guidelines to ensure continued success for the Unani Congress.

One of the key resolutions passed during the meeting was a unified demand to the Government of India to maintain the respect given to Unani medicine under the Ministry of AYUSH. The participants expressed concern that in recent years, Unani medicine has been neglected, particularly in government notifications, where it was often omitted. This has resulted in Ayurveda gaining more prominence in government jobs, while Unani medicine was overlooked, negatively impacting Unani students. The participants warned that if the situation continues, many Unani medical colleges might face closure, especially as there are already ten times fewer Unani colleges compared to Ayurveda institutions.

The meeting also highlighted the stalled construction of government-approved Unani medical colleges in Haryana and Uttarakhand due to provincial government neglect. A resolution was passed urging the authorities to expedite the completion of these projects to benefit the public. Additionally, there was a demand for the Delhi government to hold elections for the Delhi Bharatiya Chikitsa Parishad (DBCP) as soon as possible.

Several prominent figures in the Unani medical field, including Dr. Zakiuddin, Dr. Mohammad Saleem Siddiqui, Dr. Shahnaz Parveen, Dr. Ilyas Mazhar Hussain, Dr. Abdullah Khan Raouf, and others, shared their views during the meeting. Key participants such as Athar Aziz, Dr. Ehsan Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr. Faizan Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and Dr. Khurshid Alam were also present.

The General Secretary of the organization, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, expressed his gratitude to all attendees, especially acknowledging Dr. Syed Farooq and his staff for their excellent management of the event.
