New Delhi: A meeting of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress (Technical Wing) was held under the chairmanship of Dr. S.G.V. Satya at Connaught Place here. Dr. Satya expressed his happiness that the AIUTC is actively pursuing its objectives, and that individuals associated with the Tibbi Congress across the country are sincerely fulfilling their responsibilities.
Dr. Satya stated that the Tibbi Congress has been organising World Unani Medicine Day every year on 12 February, the birth anniversary of Hakim Ajmal Khan, a prominent freedom fighter and champion of Hindu-Muslim unity, since 2011. Now, the Government of India has also officially recognised the birth anniversary of Maseeh-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan as Unani Medicine Day and has begun organising celebrations accordingly. This responsibility is being commendably carried out by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Government of India.
He further stated that the establishment of the Ministry of AYUSH in 2014, along with the recognition of Hakim Ajmal Khan’s birth anniversary as Unani Medicine Day, has given Unani medicine stability equal to that of Ayurveda in India. This reflects the growing importance of Unani medicine. Since Unani is a scientific system of treatment and has been practised for centuries, its future is bright, especially because it is also a part of the National Health Mission of the Government of India.
