New Delhi: The National President of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), Professor Mushtaq Ahmad, has announced that on the upcoming World Unani Medicine Day, February 12, 2025, a special commemorative journal will be published to honor the life and contributions of renowned physician Padma Shri Hakim Syed Khalifatullah.
The responsibility for collecting articles for this edition has been entrusted to the AIUTC National Secretary, Dr. Laiq Ali Khan, with the editorial board comprising Hakim Khurshid Ahmad Shafqat Azmi, Professor Mushtaq Ahmad, Dr. Shams Al-Afaq, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, and Dr. Fakhr Alam.
Hakim Syed Khalifatullah, who has previously served as the President of Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and held several prominent positions in government bodies, is celebrated for his significant contributions to the advancement of Unani medicine.
Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, the Secretary-General of the AIUTC, expressed pride in this tradition, noting that organising the annual Unani Medicine Day is a major achievement in promoting Unani medicine. This initiative began in 2010 when AYUSH department of the central government, responding to the Congress’s appeal, decided to designate February 12 – the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Hakim Ajmal Khan – as Unani Medicine Day. Since February 12, 2011, this day has been observed annually, accompanied by a commemorative journal celebrating the life and contributions of a distinguished Unani physician to document this work as part of historical record.
This commemorative journal honoring Hakim Syed Khalifatullah is set to add another significant chapter to the historical legacy of Unani medicine.
