Rampur: The All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC) Uttar Pradesh organised a memorial lecture and CME at a Civil Lines hotel here Tuesday to commemorate the contributions of Hakim Afzal Ahmed, former Dean of Faculty of Unani Medicine at Aligarh Muslim University. The event also marked the birth anniversary of Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, General Secretary of All India Unani Tibbi Congress, while the Regional Ayurveda and Unani Officer, Dr. Hari Om, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan said that it is now mandatory for AYUSH doctors to join CME (Continuing Medical Education) programmes because, according to NCISM guidelines, participation certificates from CME programmes are required for the registration and renewal of Ayurveda and Unani doctors. He congratulated the programme convener, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam Khan, and co-convener, Dr. Mohammad Kashif, and their team for organising a successful programme.
While mentioning Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Dr. Khan said that he was our national leader and made unparalleled sacrifices in the freedom struggle, for which the entire nation will always remain indebted to him.
Highlighting the life and contributions of Professor Afzal Ahmed, Dr. Khan stated that he was a person of faith and character, possessing exemplary qualities. After retirement, he rendered selfless services to the public through the Social Health and Educational Society. This is why people from every department of AMU hold him in high esteem.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Dr. Hari Om expressed his happiness over the organisation of the programme and stated that the activities of the AIUTC are being carried out consistently across the country. He extended his gratitude and congratulations to everyone involved in this organisation.
Dr. Arsalan Beg from Kashmir Unani Medical College informed the participants in detail about the use of laser therapy, providing valuable information on the subject. The event also saw the participation of Dr. Habibullah, CMO of Tihar Jail, Delhi; Dr. Zakiuddin, former Deputy Director of CCRUM; and officials from NIMA, Rampur, who shared their views. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Salam, Vice President of AIUTC Uttar Pradesh, skilfully managed the proceedings of the programme.
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to doctors who have been serving in Rampur district for decades. These included Dr. Faheem Ahmed Khan, who has been serving in Shahabad, Rampur, for 44 years; Dr. Muhammad Yunus for 39 years; and Dr. Muhammad Anees for 34 years. The Rising Star Award was conferred upon paediatric specialist Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman Mian, while the “Hakeem-ul-Ghuraba” (Physician of the Poor) Award was presented to Dr. Mehdi Hassan, who has been serving in Rampur for a long time.
Prominent participants included Dr. Ehsan Ahmed Siddiqui, Dr. Muhammad Arif Saifi, Hakim Muhammad Murtaza Dehlavi, Hakim Aftab Alam, Israr Ahmed Ujjaini, Muzaffarullah Khan, and Muhammad Imran Qannouji, among others.
