Congress Says BJP Using Hindu Muslim Divide to Cover Governance Issues

Varanasi: Congress state president Ajay Rai accused the BJP government of using Hindu Muslim divisions to divert attention from unemployment and inflation. He said the government focuses on communal narratives to suppress public concerns. Rai was responding to remarks by Jamiat Ulama i Hind president Maulana Mahmood Madani, who spoke in Bhopal about the situation of minorities and the state of the judiciary.

Rai said the public understands the government’s strategy. He criticised the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in twelve states, saying the process is being pushed through within a month without addressing core governance issues. He said the government promotes communal tensions to avoid accountability.

Madani addressed the National Governing Body meeting of Jamiat Ulama i Hind in Bhopal. He said constitutional rights are weakening and minority communities are facing pressure. He raised concerns about the independence of the judiciary. He referred to the Babri Masjid and triple talaq cases as examples of rulings that raised questions about judicial neutrality. He said courts must uphold the Constitution to be considered supreme.

Madani spoke about actions that have affected Muslim communities across India. He listed bulldozer demolitions, mob lynching incidents, and the seizure of Waqf properties. He said these actions create fear and undermine social security. He said Muslims today feel unsafe in daily life.

Madani also addressed cultural issues. He said communities that surrender under pressure lose their identity. He said living communities face challenges and defend their rights.
