New Delhi – The Lok Sabha witnessed a light-hearted exchange during the debate on the Waqf Bill as Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at the BJP over its delayed announcement of a national president. Yadav remarked that a party claiming to be the world’s largest was struggling to elect its own leader, drawing laughter from the opposition.
In response, Union Home Minister Amit Shah quipped that unlike dynastic parties, the BJP’s leadership selection process involves 12-13 crore members, making it time-consuming. Shah’s remark underscored the ongoing debate over political party structures and internal democracy in India.
