Four Arrested in Aligarh for Writing “I Love Muhammad” on Temples to Frame Muslims

Aligarh: Uttar Pradesh police arrested four men for attempting to falsely implicate Muslims by writing “I love Muhammad” on temple walls in Aligarh. The accused, identified as Jishant Kumar, Akash Kumar, Dilip Kumar, and Abhishek Sarswat, were taken into custody while a fifth man, Rahul, remains absconding.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadon, the slogans were discovered on the walls of four temples on October 25. The incident triggered tension after a member of a right-wing organisation lodged a complaint naming several Muslim residents. Police initially registered a case against the Muslim men mentioned in the complaint.

However, investigators soon noticed a crucial detail. The same spelling error appeared across all the graffiti, which differed from how similar slogans had appeared on banners during protests in Bareilly in September. This observation prompted further inquiry.

Using technical surveillance, police traced the act to the four Hindu men, who reportedly had long-standing property disputes with some of the Muslims they tried to frame. The accused have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sent to jail.

SSP Jadon confirmed that the investigation ruled out communal motives and established the act as a deliberate attempt to create false communal tension for personal revenge. The police said they acted swiftly to remove the graffiti and restore calm in the area.
