Lucknow: Senior Muslim cleric Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has condemned alleged atrocities against minority Hindus in Bangladesh. He described the situation as grave and disturbing.
In a public statement, Maulana Barelvi said conditions in Bangladesh remain fragile. He referred to reports of daily incidents involving mob lynching, physical assaults, arson, and vandalism directed at Hindu communities. He called these acts regrettable and said public attention should remain fixed on the safety of minorities.
Addressing Muslims in India, Maulana Barelvi urged unity and humanity above religious differences. He said Indian Muslims should stand alongside Hindu citizens if protests emerge in response to violence across the border. He stressed solidarity as a moral duty. He added protection of minority life and security in Bangladesh remains a shared responsibility for people in India.
Maulana Barelvi also spoke on extremist activity. He said radical forces seek to destabilise Bangladesh. He said Islamic teachings place humanity at the core of faith and treat the killing of one innocent person as equal to the killing of all humanity. He said violent ideologies damage the image of Islam.
He further alleged involvement of radical groups working with Pakistan’s intelligence agency. He accused such forces of attempting to undermine Bangladesh. He said the administration led by Muhammad Yunus failed to maintain law and order.
Maulana Barelvi also criticised efforts by political groups in India linking internal incidents with developments in Bangladesh. He warned against such narratives, which risk worsening communal tensions.
