All India Muslim Personal Law Board Demands Ban on Misleading and Islamophobic Film

New Delhi, June 3, 2024: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has called for an immediate ban on the recently released film “Hamaare Baarah,” which they claim is highly misleading, provocative, and detrimental to the country’s unity and communal harmony. The Board asserts that the film promotes Islamophobia and misrepresents the teachings of Islam.

In a press conference, AIMPLB spokesperson Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas expressed deep concern and astonishment over how the film was approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He questioned the impartiality of the CBFC, stating that the film’s release undermines the Board’s credibility. According to Dr. Ilyas, the film not only attempts to malign the image of Indian Muslims but also aggressively attacks the religion of Islam and its teachings.

Dr. Ilyas noted that while Indian cinema has occasionally misrepresented Islam and Muslims in the past, the frequency and intensity of such portrayals have increased recently. He cited other films like “The Kerala Story” and “The Kashmir Files” as examples where Muslims were depicted as terrorists and Islam as a religion promoting terrorism. In the case of “Hamaare Baarah,” he highlighted that a verse from the Quran was distorted to falsely suggest that Islam devalues women.

Furthermore, Dr. Ilyas pointed out that government census data over several decades shows a steady decline in the birth rate among Muslims. In contrast, the film promotes a narrative that stokes fear among the majority community regarding the increase in the Muslim population.

The AIMPLB spokesperson demanded an immediate ban on the film, calling it a “malicious and fabricated” piece of work that incites hatred. He also urged legal action against the film’s producer, director, and actors for hurting the religious sentiments of a community.
