All India Unani Tibbi Congress Holds Its 139th Free Unani Medical Camp in Kairana

State Government Biased; Appointment of Unani Medical Officers Pending in Himachal Pradesh: Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan

Kairana: Under the ‘Unani Upchar – Janata ke Dwaar, Mission 2025’ initiative of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), the 139th free Unani medical camp was organised in Tatrauda, Kairana. The camp was convened by Dr. Syed Yasir, President of AIUTC Kairana (Uttar Pradesh), in collaboration with Chaudhary Dilshad Pradhan and Om Prakash Panwar. A large number of people availed themselves of the services offered at the camp.

Addressing the inaugural session, Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, General Secretary of AIUTC, laid out essential principles for maintaining good health. He emphasised that citizens must be fully aware of the government facilities available to them, and it is the responsibility of public representatives at the village, block, tehsil, and district levels to ensure that people benefit from these schemes.

He further said that the Unani system of medicine has been practised for centuries and remains equally beneficial for all sections of society. Although the Unani system enjoys support at both central and state levels, it is unfortunate that in some states, especially Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, government neglect has pushed the system to the brink of collapse. For several years, there have been no appointments of Unani medical officers, and with retirees not being replaced, government Unani dispensaries are either shutting down or being converted to other systems of medicine, despite the system’s popularity among the public. The huge turnout at their medical camps, he said, is clear evidence of this popularity.

Those who played a notable role in making the camp successful include, apart from Dr. Syed Yasir, Hakim Mohammad Murtaza Dehlvi, Advocate Shah Jabeen Qazi, Hakim Atta-ur-Rahman Ajmali, Israr Ahmad Ujaini, Zeeshan Qazi, Syed Abid Hasan, Om Prakash Pradhan, Dr. Sanwar Ansari, Dr. Arun Kumar, Dr. Chaudhary Wakeel, Haji Abdul Ghaffar Chaudhary, Mohsin Chauhan, and journalist Shehzad Badri.

Most patients at the camp were suffering from seasonal illnesses such as colds, flu, fever, and cough, along with liver and gastric disorders, diabetes, joint pain, and skin diseases.
