Nagpur: The All India Unani Tibbi Congress, Maharashtra State, Nagpur, organized World Unani Medicine Day at the Islamic Cultural Hall, Nagpur. A special lecture on the standardization of Unani medicines was conducted as part of the event. The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and witnessed the participation of over 100 renowned doctors from Nagpur and surrounding areas, who gained valuable insights into Unani medicine.
The event was presided over by Dr. Qari Abdul Quddoos, Principal of Jalgaon Unani Medical College. In his presidential address, he appreciated the outstanding performance of the All-India Unani Medical Congress, Nagpur, and shared significant information about Unani medicine. The chief guest, Professor Govind Verma (Former Dean, NKP Salve College & Lata Mangeshkar Hospital), emphasized the importance of minimal medication and maintaining fitness through daily exercise.
The event was further graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Saqib Hussain (Former Member, CCIM), Dr. S.M. Yaqoob (National Secretary, All India Unani Medical Congress), Dr. Niyazuddin Siddiqui (Secretary, All India Unani Medical Congress, Vidarbha Zone), Dr. Ehtesham Ali (Vice President, All India Unani Medical Congress, Maharashtra), along with Dr. Shahid Alam, Dr. Muqeet Ansari, Dr. Mehdi Hasan, and Dr. Nazia Khan, who shared their valuable insights.
A prominent Unani practitioner from Malegaon, Dr. Khalid Niyazi, delivered an insightful lecture on Unani medicine, explaining how Unani remedies can be effectively incorporated into daily medical practice.
On this occasion, several distinguished doctors, including Dr. Ghulam Mursaleen, Dr. Naeem Niyazi, Dr. Shiraz Ansari, Dr. Bakhtiyar Ghazi, Dr. Rehana Ameen, Dr. Naheeda Khan, Dr. Humaira, and Dr. Tauseef Alam, were honored with the Hakim Ajmal Khan Award.
The organizing team, led by Dr. Intikhab Alam (Secretary, All India Unani Medical Congress, Nagpur), Dr. Shiraz Ansari (Treasurer), and Dr. Kashif Qazi (President, Nagpur), played a vital role in ensuring the success of the World Unani Medicine Day program. Their efforts were supported by Dr. Shafiq, Dr. Naqeeb, Dr. Majeed, Dr. Mansha, and Dr. Mohammad Tahir.
The event was skillfully moderated by Dr. Naeem Niyazi and Dr. Humaira. A unanimous resolution was passed, urging the Government of India to confer the Bharat Ratna upon the eminent freedom fighter and Unani medicine pioneer, Hakim Ajmal Khan.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Intikhab Alam, Secretary, All India Unani Medical Congress, Nagpur.
