Allegations of Irregularities Rock NEET UG 2024 Exam, SIO Calls for Investigation

7 June 2024: The recently released NEET UG 2024 results have sparked controversy and allegations of irregularities, leading to demands for a thorough investigation into the exam process. The outcry comes after 67 students achieved All India Rank (AIR) 1 with perfect scores of 720 marks, with six of these top scorers hailing from a single center in Haryana.

Concerns over favoritism and potential malpractice have been raised by students and parents, who allege that certain individuals, particularly those from specific coaching centers, were unduly advantaged. Students have reported discrepancies between their scorecards and OMR sheets, pointing to possible issues beyond simple errors or grace marks.

The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has joined the chorus of voices calling for transparency and integrity in the NEET exam process. They have highlighted several alarming trends, including anomalously low qualification scores, an unprecedented number of perfect scores, and suspicious clusters of top performers at particular centers.

SIO emphasizes the need for an immediate investigation, independent audit, and complete transparency to address the concerns raised by students and restore trust in the NEET (UG) 2024 exam. Additionally, SIO has launched a survey program to gather further information from students affected by the alleged irregularities.

In light of these developments, questions have been raised about the timing of the result announcement, which was moved up from June 14th to June 4th. Some speculate that this change was intended to divert attention away from the controversy surrounding the exam, coinciding with the announcement of Lok Sabha election results.

As calls for accountability grow louder, all eyes are on the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Central Government to address the allegations and ensure the fairness and integrity of the NEET (UG) 2024 exam.
