AMP, IICC Conclude Landmark 3-Day Meet with MPs: 25-Year Roadmap for Muslim Educational and Economic Empowerment

New Delhi: The Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), in partnership with the India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC), wrapped up its historic 3-day National Consultative Meeting with Members of Parliament on Thursday, marking a decisive step toward implementing its 25-Year Roadmap for the educational and economic upliftment of Indian Muslims.
AMP President Aamir Edresy expressed heartfelt thanks to MPs who participated across party lines, stressing that their commitment would bolster efforts for community development.
“We are grateful to the Members of Parliament who attended our National Consultative Meet on the 25-Year Roadmap. Their commitment strengthens our resolve to work for the community’s progress,” said Edresy.
The final day brought together several influential MPs and dignitaries, including Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain (INC, Karnataka), Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan (ASP, UP), M. M. Abdullah (DMK, Tamil Nadu), and Nadeem ul Haque (TMC, West Bengal).
Salman Khurshid, Former Union Minister and IICC President, lauded AMP for setting “high standards” and described the roadmap as “the way forward to empower the community.”
Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM President and MP from Hyderabad, warned that “the condition of Muslims is worse than SCs and STs,” urging immediate government intervention.
Iqra Hasan Choudhary, MP from Kairana, UP, praised AMP’s concrete, written action plan, contrasting it with meetings that “often lack follow-up.”
Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain proposed adopting backward districts in the North and West to implement the recommendations, while Dr. Fouzia Khan (Rajya Sabha, Maharashtra) called for collaboration between social organisations and madrasas, along with greater women’s empowerment within Shariah principles.
Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd.) urged the creation of a model community school in every backward district.
Other participants included MPs Sanjay Dina Patil (Mumbai), Zia-ur-Rahman Barq (Sambhal, UP), Dr. Mohammad Javed (Bihar), Raqibul Hussain (Assam), Abdul Wahab P. V. (Kerala), Pappu Yadav (Bihar), and former parliamentarians Shahid Siddiqui, Wajahat Habibullah, Dr. S. Y. Qureshi, and Khwaja Shahid.
Aamir Edresy announced that AMP will now hold follow-up meetings with influential Muslims and industrialists nationwide to execute the action plan. He acknowledged IICC’s support and credited AMP’s senior team, including Muhammed Amin, Sajjad Parvaiz, Uves Saroshwala, Reyaz Alam, and Dr. Abdul Ahad, for their dedication.
The event, anchored by Farooq Siddiqui, Head of AMP’s National Coordination Team, was hailed as a “historic initiative” that could reshape the trajectory of Muslim educational and economic development in India over the next quarter-century.
