AMU Announces 53 Short-term Online Courses under SWAYAM Platform Beginning July 21

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has announced the launch of 53 short-term Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to be offered through the Government of India’s SWAYAM platform. These courses, developed and delivered by AMU’s distinguished faculty, will be available during the July – December 2025 session.

Covering a diverse range of disciplines – including Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Wildlife Sciences, Forensic Medicine, Commerce, Economics, English, Geography, Geology, Public Administration, Sociology, Political Science, Library and Information Science, Law, Management, Health Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Education, Physical Education, Women’s Studies, Persian, Urdu, Hindi, and Sunni Theology – these courses have been designed to meet the educational needs of learners nationwide.

This is the second year that AMU is conducting these courses in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science at AMU, NPTEL, and IIT Madras, with funding from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. AMU had announced 31 courses last year under this programme.

Prof. Aasim Zafar, AMU’s SWAYAM Coordinator, shared that learners from any university across the country are welcome to enroll. Beginning July 21, 47 of the courses will run for 12 weeks, while 6 courses will span 8 weeks. All course examinations are scheduled for October 24, 2025.

Who Can Join?

These courses are open to everyone, free of cost, including students, research scholars, faculty members, and professionals eager to acquire new skills or explore new disciplines.

How to Enroll:

Visit the SWAYAM portal at https://swayam.gov.in, enter the course name in the search bar, select the desired course, and click “Join.” Follow the instructions to complete enrollment.

Certificate:

Learners who wish to obtain a certificate upon course completion may pay an examination fee of Rs. 1,000.
