AMU Hosts Workshop on Research Methodology Challenges

Aligarh: The Psychological Society of the Department of Psychology, Aligarh Muslim University, organised a one-day workshop on “Basic Issues and Challenges of Research Methodology.” The event provided valuable insights into research processes, sampling techniques, and ethical considerations.

The Chairperson of the Department, Dr. Shah Alam, felicitated the guest of honour, Prof. Akbar Hussain from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and emphasised the importance of research as the foundation of academic study.

Prof. Hussain highlighted the significance of hypothesis testing, the role of variables in determining research effectiveness, and the necessity of formulating and finalising research titles with precision. He discussed confirmatory and exploratory research approaches, emphasising the need for researchers to stay updated with current societal challenges and select relevant topics.

He underscored the importance of research design, proper statistical analysis, and the control of extraneous variables to ensure methodological rigour. He also stressed the critical role of standard deviation, standard error, and measurement tools in data analysis.

Earlier, the Society Coordinator, Seher Zehra Naqvi, welcomed the guests and outlined the workshop’s key objectives.

The session concluded with an interactive segment where participants shared their takeaways from the workshop.

A vote of thanks was extended by Aliza Siddiqui, Editor of the Psychological Society, to the esteemed guests, faculty members, and students for their active participation.

Dr. Nasheed Imtiyaz was the Coordinator and Dr. Salma Kaneez, Dr. Sarah Javed and Dr. Hina were the Co-coordinators.
