Aligarh: The Interdisciplinary Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a two-day international workshop on “Advances in Deep Learning: Tools & Techniques” in hybrid mode.
The workshop opened with an inaugural session presided over by Prof. Nesar Ahmad (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology), who highlighted the ethical and power consumption challenges in AI. Prof. Mohammad Muzammil (Principal, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology) highlighted the need for responsible AI development, while Prof. Rashid Ali (Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Centre for AI) welcomed participants.
Spanning five technical sessions, the workshop featured talks by national and international experts. Dr. Nadeem Akhtar delivered a keynote on “Deep Learning Unveiled: From Basics to Breakthroughs,” providing a comprehensive overview of neural network architectures. Other notable speakers included Mr. Palash Kulshreshtha (Engineering Manager, PayTM), who discussed LLM-based systems, and Dr. Mohd Ayyub Khan, who conducted a hands-on session on Convolutional Neural Networks.
The online sessions featured Dr. Zeba Khanam (BT Applied Research, UK), speaking on deep learning in cybersecurity, and Dr. Md. Muzakkir Hussain (FH Dortmund, Germany), discussing Edge AI and TinyML frameworks.
The event concluded with a valedictory session where participants received certificates and customized gifts. Attendees appreciated the expert-led discussions and hands-on learning experience.
