Aligarh: In a remarkable display of humanitarian commitment and social responsibility, a dedicated team of doctors, interns, and medical students from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) and Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College (ZADC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), reached Punjab to provide essential medical care to flood-affected communities.
Organised by the Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) in collaboration with AICT India and its medico wing, the relief mission will operate from October 3 to 6, covering Sultanpur Lodhi and adjoining villages severely impacted by recent floods.
The contingent was formally flagged off at a ceremony attended by senior faculty members and local authorities, including Prof. Mohd Khalid, Dean, Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Najam Khalique; Prof. Suhail Amin; Aligarh SSP Shri Neeraj Kumar Jadaun; and CO Shri Sarvam Kumar, who lauded the initiative as a shining example of AMU’s enduring legacy of community service and national outreach.
Expressing gratitude to Prof. Naima Khatoon, Vice Chancellor, AMU, for her encouragement and institutional support,Dr. Sami Ahmed Khan, President of RDA, said, “This mission reflects AMU’s deep-rooted ethos of service to humanity. Our team stands ready to serve with compassion, professionalism, and resolve.” Dr. Akhtar Ali, Vice President, RDA, acknowledged AICT India’s assistance in ensuring logistical and medical readiness.
The team will conduct outpatient clinics, mobile health camps, and emergency medical services in flood-ravaged villages such as Chakk Pati, Hazipur, and Bussowal, while also organizing health awareness and sanitation drives in relief shelters.
Special recognition was extended to Dr. Abdullah Hashmi (Medicine), Dr.Yaman Mohd (TBRD), Dr.Rajeeh Shakil (TBRD), and Dr. Md. Junaid (Ophthalmology) for facilitating the mobilization of critical medicines and supplies.
Guided by the RDA’s motto, “Service above Self,” the AMU medical team exemplifies the university’s dedication to public welfare, extending healing hands and hope to those in need beyond the campus borders.
