AMU Students Gather to Honour Hazrat Fatima Zahra, Stress Value of Knowledge and Justice

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University hosted a mourning gathering to remember the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Sayyada Fatima Zahra, the daughter of Prophet Muhammad. Current and former students organised the event and focused on her legacy of knowledge, justice, and service.

The programme opened with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Muhammad Akhtar. Syed Danish Zaidi presented a marsiya. Kashif Naqvi offered pesh khwani. Ronak Abbas Rizvi Hallauri recited a noha that reflected the emotional tone of the gathering.

Hujjatul Islam Maulana Haider Mehdi delivered the keynote address. He said Hazrat Fatima Zahra stood as a model of devotion and learning. He explained her role in building an educational system that shaped influential figures in early Islamic history. He said her work advanced ideas of justice, courage, and ethical leadership. He urged students to study her methods and adopt her principles in modern academic life.

The event drew the participation of Prof. Asghar Ejaz Qomi, Chairman of the Department of Shia Theology. Faculty members, alumni, and students attended the programme and engaged with the themes raised in the address. Many participants said the focus on education was important for young Muslims seeking direction in a challenging social climate.

Organisers said the gathering provided space for reflection and collective learning. They stressed the need to preserve the intellectual and moral teachings of Hazrat Fatima Zahra and apply them within universities and public life.
