Aligarh: Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, concluded a significant academic visit to China, where he represented India in several prestigious forums focused on traditional medicine and international collaboration.
Prof. Rahman’s visit began on May 21, 2025, with a delegation to Xi’an Medical University, engaging in discussions on collaborative research and exchange programmes in pharmacology and traditional medicine. Later, he participated in the Silk Road International Conference on Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application at Xi’an Qujiang International Conference Centre, hosted by Xidian University.
As a featured speaker at the Scientific Forum on Traditional Medicine at Xi’an International University on May 24, he delivered a lecture titled “The Great Silk Road: Medicine and Traditions,” highlighting India’s contribution to the historical medical exchanges through the Silk Road.
He also addressed the 5th International Academic Conference on the Inheritance, Innovation, and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, where his presentation received appreciation from scholars and practitioners.
His academic engagements concluded with an invited lecture at the Qingdao Yao Medicine Research Institute, where he discussed India’s traditional medicine systems, including Ayurveda and Unani, in a session organised by the Chinese Ethnomedicine Organisation.
