Aligarh: Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology and Coordinator of the Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Monitoring Centre at J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), delivered an invited lecture titled “History and Basic Concepts of Pharmacovigilance” during the inaugural session of the 33rd Skill Development Programme on Pharmacovigilance.
The five-day intensive training programme has been designed by the National Coordinating Centre of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (NCC-PvPI), which functions under the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Prof Rahman said that the programme aims to impart foundational and practical knowledge in pharmacovigilance to a diverse group of participants, including healthcare professionals, academicians, industry experts, students, and research scholars from across the country. It is an important platform to promote competence in drug safety and monitoring of adverse drug reactions, thereby reinforcing the goals of public health and patient safety, he added.
