AMU Polytechnic Hosts Talk on Edge AI and Single Board Computing

Aligarh: The University Women’s Polytechnic at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized an invited talk on “Edge AI with Single Board Computers” to introduce students to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in compact, real-time computing environments. The session aimed to bridge theoretical understanding with practical applications, reflecting AMU’s continued focus on technological innovation.

The lecture focused on how Artificial Intelligence is increasingly being integrated into edge devices using single board computers such as Raspberry Pi. The discussion highlighted how these small yet powerful platforms are transforming industries that rely on Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and embedded systems. By bringing AI processing closer to data sources, edge AI enables faster decision-making without depending on cloud servers.

Students and faculty members attended the session, which offered insights into the development and deployment of AI solutions in low-resource or remote settings. The initiative sought to make students aware of emerging trends in the computing world and encourage them to explore AI-driven projects using affordable and accessible tools.

The event forms part of AMU’s broader effort to strengthen technical education through interdisciplinary exposure. By engaging with topics such as edge computing, the university continues to prepare students for the evolving landscape of digital innovation and applied technology.
