Aligarh: Jannisar Akhter, a promising PhD scholar from the Department of Foreign Languages at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been awarded the esteemed Ernst Mach Grant by the OeAD – Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation.
As part of this prestigious international research fellowship, Akhter will spend two months, from April to May 2026, at the renowned University of Vienna. He will carry out advanced research in Hispanic Studies under the guidance of eminent academician Prof. Matthias Hausmann.
The grant comes with a monthly stipend of €1,300 and an additional €1,200 allocated for travel expenses, offering significant financial support to facilitate his research abroad.
Expressing pride in Akhter’s achievement, his supervisor Dr. Mayuresh Kumar lauded the scholar’s dedication and academic potential. Prof. Mohammad Azhar, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, also commended the award, stating that such global recognitions bring prestige not only to the scholar but also to AMU at large.
This achievement underscores AMU’s growing presence on the international academic stage and reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing global research collaborations.
