AMU Researchers Ranked among World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has once again reaffirmed its position as a centre of academic and research excellence, with 46 of its researchers featuring in the prestigious list of the world’s top 2% of scientists, compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and Scopus.

This globally recognised annual list assesses research performance across 22 scientific disciplines and 174 sub-fields, using a composite indicator (c-score) that factors in citation impact, co-authorship patterns, and authorship positions. The ranking highlights quality, influence, and meaningful research contributions, rather than mere publication counts.

Notably, 46 AMU researchers have been featured in the list’s career-long impact category, underscoring the university’s sustained culture of inquiry and innovation. Faculty members from the Departments of Agricultural Microbiology, Botany, and Chemistry lead the representation, followed by researchers from Applied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Zoology, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Nanotechnology, Plant Protection, and Post-Harvest Engineering & Technology.

Congratulating the achievers, AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Naima Khatoon, remarked, “This recognition reflects the intellectual strength and research integrity of our faculty. AMU’s scholars continue to uphold Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s vision of blending faith with modern scientific pursuit. Their achievements bring global pride to the university and reaffirm our collective commitment to advancing knowledge for the betterment of society.”

This distinction reinforces AMU’s growing global footprint in high-impact research, showcasing its enduring legacy as a premier institution of higher learning and innovation.
