Aligarh: A student delegation from the Cultural Education Centre (CEC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), participated in the First Indian-Russian Youth Forum, held at the Russian House, New Delhi, from June 17 to 18, 2025.
Organised by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the forum commemorated the 100th anniversary of Rossotrudnichestvo and celebrated the Day of Russia and Youth Day. It brought together young leaders, university students, youth NGOs, diplomats, and experts from both countries for an exchange of ideas on diplomacy, education, environment, and future cooperation.
The AMU contingent comprised ArhamUllah Khan, Mohd Salman, Innama Zehra, Syed Faheem Ahmad, Ufi Alam, Arshaan Ali Khan, Aryan Pratap Singh, Abeer Tariq, and Madiha Naaz Durrani. The students took part in a range of activities, including panel discussions, group workshops, and cultural exchanges.
The opening session on June 17 featured a keynote address by E.S. Remizova, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India. Participants also engaged with interactive presentations and video showcases by Team Rossotrudnichestvo, which highlighted opportunities for Indian youth in Russia, including avenues for participation in the prestigious World Youth Forum. A documentary screening followed, offering insights into Russia’s socio-political evolution through 25 years of President Vladimir Putin’s leadership.
The second day began with a high-level panel discussion featuring HE Mr. Denis Alipov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India; Mr. Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament and National President of BJYM; and Mr. Nitesh Kumar Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India. The discussion focused on strengthening Indo-Russian relations through youth engagement and expanding academic and professional pathways for Indian students in Russia. A plenary session included personal narratives from Indian professionals who have worked or studied in Russia, followed by an interactive group activity with the “Tears of Earth” Foundation centred on environmental responsibility.
Dr. Naima Khatoon, Vice Chancellor of AMU, commended the students for their active involvement and said their participation reflects the university’s growing emphasis on global citizenship and youth diplomacy.
Prof. Mohammed Naved Khan, Coordinator, Cultural Education Centre, praised the delegation for their enthusiasm and intellectual engagement throughout the forum.
