Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh : Students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) staged a protest against the alleged takeover of university land by local civic authorities. The demonstration, held on campus, saw students expressing their opposition to what they termed as unauthorized occupation of university property, reported the Deccan Herald.
The protestors claimed that the land, traditionally used by the university for academic and residential purposes, was being encroached upon without proper consultation or legal procedures. They demanded immediate cessation of any construction activities and called for a transparent investigation into the matter.
University officials have acknowledged the concerns raised by the students and assured them that the administration is looking into the issue. They emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the university’s property and pledged to engage with relevant authorities to resolve the dispute amicably.
Local civic authorities, on the other hand, stated that the land in question falls under their jurisdiction and any development work being undertaken is in accordance with urban planning regulations. They expressed willingness to hold discussions with university representatives to address the concerns raised.
The situation remains tense, with students continuing their sit-in protest and vowing to escalate their agitation if their demands are not met. The university administration has urged all parties to exercise restraint and work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
