AMU Students to Represent India at ISSF Junior World Cup in Germany

Zuhair Khan and Sabira Haris to Compete in Mixed Team Trap Event

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is celebrating a proud milestone as two of its talented shooters, Zuhair Khan and Sabira Haris, have been selected to represent India at the ISSF Junior World Cup, to be held in Suhl, Germany, from May 19 to 27.

Zuhair Khan, a second-year B.Tech student at Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, and Sabira Haris, a Class 12 student at AMU, will compete in the mixed team trap shooting event – marking a historic moment as both athletes in this event represent the same institution.

Zuhair has earned acclaim in both national and international arenas with his consistent performances and multiple podium finishes in trap shooting. Sabira, with her rapid rise through the ranks, has emerged as a formidable young talent in the sport, earning her place in the national team at a remarkably early stage.

Their selection reflects not only their individual dedication but also AMU’s growing stature in promoting sports excellence, particularly in shooting. The university’s investment in sports infrastructure, coaching, and holistic student development continues to bear fruit on the international stage.

The AMU fraternity has expressed pride in this achievement, calling it an inspiration for the university’s student community. That both shooters representing India in the mixed team trap event hail from AMU is a rare and commendable feat.

As Zuhair and Sabira prepare to don the Indian colours, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of their university and nation.
