Aligarh: The University Debating and Literary Club (UDLC), Cultural Education Centre, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised an Intra-University Debate Competition at the Kennedy Auditorium, Kennedy House Complex. The debate topic was “This house believes that the media in India is instrumental in upholding constitutional ideals.”
In the English category, Mr. Anirudh Saraswat secured the first prize, followed by Mr. Mohd Hashir and Ms. Arisha Malik, who won the second prize. Ms. Basrah Hasan Rizvi and Mr. Qayem Hussain bagged the third prize, while Mr. Yanis Iqbal received the consolation prize. In the Hindi category, Ms. Falak Naaz was awarded the Best Speaker prize. A total of 40 participants competed in the event.
Prof. Nazia Hasan, President, UDLC, appreciated the participants’ efforts, and Mr. Mohd Shams Uddoha Khan, Secretary, UDLC, delivered the Vote of Thanks. The programme was conducted by Ms. Khadeeja.
Additionally, an Essay Writing Competition was held on “The role of media in shaping public opinion.” In the English category, Mr. Anirudh Saraswat secured the first prize, followed by Ms. Alina Zeba Khan in second place. Ms. Maisha Alvi and Ms. Huma Siddiqui shared the third position. In the Hindi category, Ms. Falak Raza, Ms. Priya Upadhyay, and Ms. Shazli Shafaque Rahman secured the first, second, and third prizes, respectively. Around 75 students participated.
Prof. Mohammed Naved Khan, Coordinator, Cultural Education Centre, AMU, congratulated the winners and encouraged students to engage in literary activities organised by the Club.
