AMU Youth Delegates Promote Regenerative Vision at the Prestigious Regen Asia Summit in Singapore

Aligarh: A team of talented students from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) made a notable mark at the Regen Asia Summit (RAS) 2025, a prestigious international event hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS). The summit is a renowned global platform for intergenerational collaboration on regeneration, sustainability, and innovative climate solutions.

The students – Syed Saib Salman, Zubada Swaleha, Harshit Jain, Deeksha Varshney, Ashmil Shash, Nabeeha Nadeem, Abdul Rahman Salmani, and Tarab Jawed – represented India and AMU with dedication and vision. All are fifth-semester undergraduate students from the Department of Botany, and their participation highlighted the growing role of Indian youth in global climate leadership.

During the summit, the AMU team actively contributed to high-level dialogues and interactive sessions, including a thought-provoking session titled “From Net Zero to Net Positive,” featuring Beo Yin Yeo, former Energy Minister of Malaysia, and Dr. Rodel Lasco, a leading IPCC co-author.

Sessions such as “The Future We Steward,”, “Building Regenerative Economic Supply Chain Pathways in the Circular Economy of the Region: South Asia,”, “Systems Thinking: Restoring Ecosystems through Reforestation and Wildlife Conservation”, and “Jus Naturae: Legal Personhood of Nature as the Key to Global Regeneration” emphasised Asia’s regenerative potential, the resilience of supply chains, wisdom of indigenous people for regeneration, sustainability and the conservation of biodiversity.

These sessions offered deep insights into a range of topics – from utilising technology, finance, and commercial strategies for regeneration, to understanding the power of language in shaping climate narratives. It also emphasized the need to create green jobs, promote agroforestry, and develop strong leadership to enable sustainable change.

One of the major highlights was an engaging interactive session with the President of Singapore, Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam. His address offered a comprehensive view of regeneration, emphasising the deep interconnection between environmental, social, and economic systems.

Chosen through a rigorous and merit-based selection process at AMU, the students not only showcased their knowledge and ideas but also embodied the spirit of innovation and leadership that defines India’s youth on the global stage.
